At Immanuel Lutheran

Funeral services for Mrs. Laura A. Muller, 78, of St. Ansgar, who died October 9, [1985] at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, were held October 11 at Immanuel Lutheran Church here with the Reverend Norman E. Betke officiating.

Laura Antonie Hollatz Muller was born February 13, 1907 in Newburg Township, Mitchell County on the family farm the daughter of Albert and Helena (Erdman) Hollatz. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Township, by the Reverend by the Reverend Becker February 26, 1907. Her parents later became members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, and she was confirmed there March 20, 1921 by the Reverend Paul Brammer. Mrs. Muller attended the Carpenter school, and as a young lady worked for the Leon Thorson family.

She married Lloyd Muller in St. Ansgar February 22, 1941. They lived and farmed west of Osage until 1947, when they moved to a farm near Carpenter. Here Mrs. Muller lived until some years following her husband's death. She made her home for a number of years in the country, and then resided in a Maple Manor apartment in St. Ansgar. The past few years after suffering a stroke, Mrs. Muller had been a resident at the Good Samaritan Center here.

Mrs. Muller is survived by her three children, Mrs. Harold (Ardis) Schmelzer of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Cedric (Jean) Marcks of St. Ansgar, and John of St. Ansgar; six grandchildren, Mark and Amy Schmelzer of Cedar Falls, Randy and Brian Marcks and Laurie and Jay Muller of St. Ansgar; three brothers, Oscar Hollatz, of Byron, Minnesota; Ortwin Hollatz of Osage and Arthur Hollatz of St. Ansgar; also three sisters, Mrs. Esther Haupt of Poynette, Wisconsin; Mrs. Elsie Dieterich of Osage and Mrs. Edna Muller of Ft. Morgan, Colorado; also nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Leona, and two brothers, Earl and Lawrence.

Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery with Reverend Betke in charge of committal services.
