Dan Warrington

Daniel Warrington passed away at the home of his son LeRoy, east of Little Cedar November 15 [1931] after a long illness from cancer. Mr. Warrington was 74 years of age.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the LeRoy Warrington home, and burial was made in the Mitchell Cemetery.

Daniel Warrington was born in West End Brampton, Huntingdonshire, England, September 7, 1857. He joined the church of England and sang in the chorus as a young man. He also held the position of Bell Ringer in his home church.

Leaving England, he came to America in 1881 when at the age of 24, settling near Osage, Iowa.

On April 25, 1889, he was married to Miss Nancy Sweet, then of Mitchell, and they started housekeeping on a farm near the village of Mitchell.

Daniel has farmed in Mitchell County most of the time since his marriage 42 years ago, except for a time when he moved with his family to live in Kansas.

Daniel has been both farmer, and housekeeper, since his wife became an invalid some fifteen years ago. Retiring from active farming in 1924, he moved to Riceville whore, they have lived the past several years, until coming to live with their son, LeRoy, last February. Daniel's health has been failing for many months, and on Sunday morning, November 15, at 4:30 o'clock, his spirit took leave from his diseased and broken body. He was 74 years, 1 month and 8 days old at the time of his death.

To mourn his passing are three sons, their wives and twelve grandchildren. The sons are Benjamin, N., of Oxawkie, Kansas; LeRoy, of Little Cedar, Iowa; and Harvey F., of Osage, Iowa.

A sister, Mrs. Ada Warner, of England, and a brother, John Warrington, of Ioverna, Saskatchewan, Canada, also survive him, being the two remaining from a family of ten children of whom Daniel was one.

The community and their many friends join in sympathy with the bereaved in this hour of grief.
