George Kroneman

OSAGE, IOWA — George Kroneman, 82, died on Sunday (Dec. 27, 1998) at his residence in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Township, Mitchell County, with the Rev. Rose Marie Nack officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Rock Township. Military honors will be performed by the Walter T. Enneberg Post No. 358 of the American Legion, St. Ansgar.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School St., St. Ansgar.

George was born on February 27, 1916, in Rock Township, Mitchell County, to Emil Kroneman and Mary Newman Kroneman. He was baptized on May 9, 1916, and confirmed on Aug. 13, 1930, at St. John's Lutheran Church.

He grew up and attended school in Rock Township where he enjoyed ice skating and baseball.

George worked for area farmers until joining the armed services. He spent four and a half years in the service during World War II as a sergeant in the Army.

After being discharged from the service, he started farming. He married Twila Cooper in 1952 in Manly. He enjoyed farming and took pride in his work. They enjoyed dancing, walking and traveling.

In 1995 they moved to Osage where he enjoyed taking care of his yard and decorating for the holidays. George took great pleasure in seeing his grandchildren and playing different games with them. He was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church, serving on the church board.

George is survived by his wife, Twila, Osage; four daughters, Carla and her husband, Tom Benson, Eagan, Minn., Chloe Ann and her husband, Scott Stumo, Northwood, Cheryl and her husband, Jerry Ginder, Mason City, and Caren and her husband, Curtis, Grafton; five grandchildren, Jessica Beyer, Northwood, Brian and Kevin Ginder, Mason City, and Courtney and Caylee, Grafton; three brothers, Lloyd Kroneman, Grafton, Rueben Kroneman, St. Ansgar, and Glenn Kroneman, Carpenter; and one sister, Clara Ones, Osage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Laura, Grace and Myrtle; and one brother, Alvin.
