RITES HELD FOR CLARA JOHANNS
Funeral rites for a former New Haven resident, Mrs. Clem Johanns (Clara), 83, were held Thursday morning at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven. Mrs. Johanns died February 25 [1980] at the Stacyville Community Rest Home.
The Reverend John Gregory, pastor, was in charge of the funeral mass and the wakes Wednesday afternoon and evening. Arrangements were by Champion Funeral Home and burial was in the church cemetery.
Clara Irene Meyer was born October 14, 1898, at Meyer, the daughter of Herbert and Mary Ann Stanton Meyer.
She was married to Clement Peter Johanns at Sacred Heart Church in Meyer October 31, 1923. They farmed most of their married life in the New Haven community. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and had made her home at the Stacyville Rest Home the past two and one-half years.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Clem; two sons, Lawrence and Clair; and her parents.
Surviving are two sons, Raymond and Clem of rural Osage; five daughters, Mrs. Allen Gray (Mary) of Mason City, Mrs. Lewis Ciesielski (Grace) of Hales Corners, Wisconsin, Mrs. Leo Beyer (Gertrude) of Riceville, Mrs. Norbert Mullenback (Irene) of Little Cedar, and Mrs. Jack Watson (Agnes) of Monsey, New York; 37 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
