The body of Mrs. Bernice Gnewuch arrived here this morning, accompanied by her hausband, Captain Gnewuch, his father, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Rogers, and sister, Miss Alda, the latter of whom have been with their daughter and sister in her last illness.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 at the Sacred Heart Church and interment was made in the Catholic cemetery.

The death of this fine young mother, whose girlhood was spent here saddens a wide circle of friends.

Obituary

Bernice Josephine Rogers Gnewuch was born July 8, 1899, and died January 10, 1931, at the age of 31 years, 6 months.

She grew up in the parental W. H. Rogers home, southwest of Osage, and received her education in the local schools, being graduated from the Osage High School.

She prepared for a nursing career, and finished training at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids, in October, 1924, then was supervisor at the Savre Hospital in Osage until her marriage to C. W. Gnewuch, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Two children, Rose Mary, 2½ years old, and William, 8 months, were born to this union and are left motherless. Besides the husband and children, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Rogers, and two sisters, Mrs. Cyril Martin, of McIntire, and Alda, at home; three brothers, Oswald an Paul, of Osage, and William, of Charles City, are left to mourn the loss of their loved one.

Her illness was of a month's duration, and all that was humanly possible to stay the ravages of disease was done. She passed away peacefully at 4 o'clock p.m. on January 10, 1931, at St. Mary's hospital, Milwaukee.

The body was brought to Osage, and funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Church, conducted by her pastor, Reverend Fr. J. P. Martin, January 14. A filled church comprising relatives and friends, attended the solemn services. Burial was made in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
