GEORGE V. WILCOX

LEROY, MINNESOTA- George V. Wilcox, 57, died Sunday, January 30, 2000, at Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis, where he had been a patient for approximately 10 days.

The funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2000, at LeRoy Lutheran Church with the Rev. Tom Kolden officiating. Burial will be in the LeRoy Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in LeRoy and one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday.

George Wilcox was born March 18, 1942, in rural Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Carl and Marie (Reich) Wilcox. He attended the LeRoy schools and went on to serve in the United States Navy aboard the Kenneth D. Bailey which was deployed to Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

After his time in the service, he was employed by the Oliver Corp. at Charles City and John Deere and Co. in Waterloo. He later went to work for M & O Paper at International Falls, Minn., and then for the past several years he has been self-employed working on small engines and repair work.

He enjoyed working on anything mechanical and was always there when anybody needed help.
George is survived by his mother, Marie, of LeRoy; three sisters, June (Mrs. Larry) "Joe" Gansen of Hampton, Janet (Mrs. Gerald) Haagenson of Mabel, Minn., and Linda (Mrs. Tom) Walker of Lake City, Minn.; and five brothers, Robert (Lillian) of Alta Vista, Dale of Clear Lake, Leon (Robin) of Brownsdale, Minn., Russell of LeRoy and Thomas (Lisa) also of LeRoy.

George was preceded in death by his father, Carl, and an infant baby sister.
