RITES HELD IN OSAGE FOR PIONEER WOMAN; WAS BORN IN EUROPE

OSAGE, IOWA Feb. 3 - Mrs. Marie Barzl, 98, died Friday evening at 9:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter Miss Julia Barzl. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. William Galbreath of Plymouth M. E. church in charge.

Mrs. Barzl was born April 19, 1832 in Guttenburg, Czechoslovakia and for nearly 60 years has been a resident of this county.

Surviving are three children, Charles Barzl and Miss Julia of Osage and Joseph Barzl of Miami, Florida.

Note: Her tombstone said her name was Maria.

Note: Her maiden name was either Cherney or Cherny as per the 1925 census of her son Charles and her daughter Clara Turek, wife of Peter Turek.

Note: She was the wife of John Barzl 1829-1894
