James Frederick "Fred” Counsell 1868-1964
FRED COUNSELL DIES AT 95; RITES ARE SET
Clear Lake---Fred Counsell, 95, died Wednesday afternoon at a local rest home where he had been cared for since a fall downstairs early this month.
A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Ward Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage, with Dr. John DeLong officiating. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery near Osage.
Pallbearers selected will be four grandsons, Lloyd Jr., Owen Robert and Morris Counsell, and nephews, Danny and Duane Counsell.
James Frederick Counsell was born February 6, 1868, on a farm near Brownville, the son of James and Lottie (Allen) Counsell. He attended schools there. He was married to Nellie Babcock in 1893 and they farmed at Brownville. Mr. Counsell retired from farming and moved to Clear Lake in 1946.
Survivors include two sons, Lloyd, Osage, and Harold, Clear Lake; one daughter, Mrs. L. B. (Venita) Schwietert, Clear Lake; two brothers, Lee Counsell, Minneapois, and Isaac, Washington, D.C.; six grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1913 and two brothers.
