Funeral services for Alfred L. Hansen, 69, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital April 19, 1973, were held at the Schroeder & Dunn Funeral Home here April 21 with the Rev. Stephen Engelstad, pastor of First Lutheran church officiating.
Alfred L. Hansen was born in Boyden July 6, 1903, the son of Emil and Wilehlmina (Peters) Hansen. He attended school at Boyden, and was confirmed at the Lutheran church in Sheldon.
Mr. Hansen was united in marriage to Theresa Lumkas in 1925, and they were the parents of two children. He came to St. Ansgar in 1942 and worked for the Co-op Oil Co., John Deere, L.R. Falk Const. Co. and served as the Town Marshal for 15 years.
In 1948 Mr. Hansen and the former Merna Babcock of Little Cedar were united in marriage and made their home in St. Ansgar. He had been in failing health since February, having undergone treatment at Methodist hospital in Rochester for about a month. He returned home for a week and then was taken to Mitchell County Memorial hospital on April 16.
Mr. Hansen is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and his son, Warren, who died March 14 of this year.
He is survived by his wife, Merna; his daughter, Mrs. Reno (Muriel) Casassa; two sisters, Mrs. John (Charlotte) J. Walter and Mrs. Lloyd (Marie) Cester, both of Sheldon; one brother, Fred W. of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two granddaughters; three grandsons; one great grandson; nephews, nieces and many friends.
Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. Engelstad in charge of the committal services.
