OTRANTO MAN FATALLY HURT BY LIGHTNING
Otranto:
Frank Lonergan, 49, was killed at 2:30 a.m. Monday afternoon when struck by lightning while he was working on the Harry Lenz farm four miles north of Otranto. Mr. Lonergan was combining clover at the time of the accident.

He was working with Mr. Lenz when an electric and rain storm began. Mr. Lenz left his work and urged Lonergan to accompany him to the farm home until the storm had abated, but Lonergan refused, saying he would remain and finish the work.

When Lenz returned to the field following the brief storm, he found Lonergans body. Lonergan was employed by Pete Hanson, Otranto implement dealer and farmer. The body was taken to the Champion funeral home at Osage.

Surviving are his father, Patrick of Rose Creek, Minn., his widow, four daughters and three sons. They are Mrs. Horace Lang of Waterloo, Mrs. Claude Voshell of Carpenter, Mrs. H. Schultz of Osage, Mrs. Kindshuh of Osage, and Milburn, Merlyn and Marvin, all at home.

note* his wife was Lillie Ione (nee Nelson) Lonergan. She married Alver Dahlen after Franks death.
