DEATH OF MRS. JOHANNA
GUNDERSON

At her home in Mitchell county, Iowa, April 8, occured the death of Mrs. Johanna Gunderson, after an illness of two weeks of pneumonia and heart trouble. She was born in Norway, May 17, 1830, thus being 70 years, 10 months and 23 days old.

She was married to Ellif Gunderson in 1849 and in 1858 she and her husband emigrated to America and came to Fayette county, Iowa, where they lived until 1872, when they moved to Mitchell county, and here lived on the G. A. Gunderson farm until 1878; then moved back to Fayette county where they lived until two years ago, when she moved back to Mitchell county.

She was the mother of seven sons and three daughters, all of whom survive her excepting one daughter; her husband died in 1888. She also leaves 21 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The funeral was attended by her seven sons and two daughters and a large number of friends and relatives followed her to her last resting place.
At her request the remains were borne to the grave by her sons, interment taking place at the Rock Creek cemetery, where she rests beside the remains of her husband and mother.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Urnes.

The floral offerings were many and beautiful.

She was a true Christian, an ideal mother, wife and friend, and was held in high esteem by a large number of acquaintances. She was a noble woman and by her death many have lost a true friend.
