#4: BIRTHDAY--Margaret Ahrens observed her 93rd birthday on Friday, February 12, 1971. Members of her family and friends spent the day with her and served birthday cake to all.
Although Margaret is pretty much confined to her room, this hasn't kept her apart from the outside world, in fact, she is very much the opposite. She keeps up on worldly happenings: past, present and future. Her keen memory is to be marveled at. She enjoys each day as it comes and has a host of friends and relatives who keep her mail box full and she enjoys all of it. She enjoys reading and crochets to keep her fingers nimble. She says, "That's my therapy."
One day while visiting with her she taught me how to master the afghan stitch, a stitch in crocheting I had never tried to do before. She received several beautiful bouquets of cut flowers along with other gifts and loads of lovely cards and letters.
