AUSTIN, MINNESOTA -- The funeral for Marcella Marie Murphy will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rose Creek with the Rev. Rubin Spinler officiating. Burial will be in Woodbury Cemetery in Lyle Township, Mower County.

Mrs. Murphy, 71, of Austin, a longtime Lyle-area farm homemaker, died Saturday (June 12, 1999) at Rochester Methodist Hospital.

Marcella Marie King was born September 1, 1927, in Riceville, Iowa. On October 17, 1945, she married Loren Murphy at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. They farmed near Lyle for 53 years before moving to St. Mark's Apartments in Austin last year.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, Thomas of Austin, David and Dean of Rose Creek, and Chris of Waseca, Minnesota; two daughters, Mary Murphy of Zimmerman, Minnesota, and Julie (Mrs. Gary) Frein of Grand Meadow, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren; a great-grandson; her mother, Eva (Johnson) King of Austin; two brothers, Marrald King of Elma, Iowa, and Melvin King of Austin; and three sisters, Vesta Bergland and Wilma Bell, both of Austin, Minnesota, and Irene Weber of Le Roy.

She was preceded in death by her father, a sister and infant twin great-grandsons.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin where the rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. and there will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
