GROTH, EIDAHL, SWAIN, PEMBROOKE

Funeral services for Mrs. Inga E. Groth, 98, of St. Ansgar who died at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center April 6, 1983, were held April 9,1983 at First Lutheran church here with the Rev. Thomas E. Hughes officiating.

Inga Eidahl Groth was born May 1, 1884 on a farm three miles northwest of St. Ansgar, the daughter of Ole and Antoinette (Swain) Eidahl. She was baptized in the First Lutheran church by the Rev. John Olsen May 18, 1884 and confirmed by Rev. Olsen September 4, 1898. She attended school in Newburg township, also at the St. Ansgar Seminary, and was trained as a dressmaker in Osage.

March 15, 1905 she married Andrew A. Groth, a merchant in St. Ansgar. Two sons were born to them. Her lifework had been primarily homemaking. She was always active in the women's organizations in her church, and was a member of Esther Circle. Among her hobbies were the raising of flowers and gardening. She was an expert dressmaker and did much crocheting and fancy needlework. Mrs. Groth lived all of her life in St. Ansgar, and entered the Good Samaritan Center here as a resident in December of 1975.

Mrs. Groth was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; three brothers, Oscar, Albert and Wenzel Eidahl; and one sister, Emma Hegg.

She is survived by her sons, Alton O. Groth and Irling A. Groth of Des Moines; one sister, Clara Pembrooke of Austin, Minn.; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; also nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery here with Rev. Hughes in charge of committal services.
