Obituary-Meyer
Alvina Walk was born near DeForest, Dane county, Wisconsin, April 4, 1865. Her mother died when she was 6 years old, later the father brought his family to Iowa, settling in Mitchell county, one mile west of St. Ansgar. Here Alvina grew to womanhood.
On November 6, 1895, she was united in marriage to Henry Meyer, who survives her. After their marriage they made their home in McCook, Nebr. for six years and then returned to St. Ansgar, which since has been their home.
Previous to her last illness Mrs. Meyer has always enjoyed good health, and even during this illness did not seem to realize that she was seriously ill.
The physician was first consulted July 4th. For several days there was little change noted in her condition and no particular alarm was felt concerning her until a few days before her death when unfavorable developments appeared. From then she grew weaker until death brought relief about 3:10 Thursday morning July 26, 1917.
She leaves beside her husband, three sisters, Mrs. C. H. Miller, Mrs. Amelia Fulton and Mrs. James Rossiter, who are living here.
Mrs. Meyer was confirmed in her girlhood in the German Lutheran church, but later united with the M.E. church and was a regular and devoted attendant.
The funeral was held at the M.E. Church Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Interment was made at St. Ansgar cemetery.
