OBITUARY: Henry Koenigs, 1904-1997

STACYVILLE, IOWA-- Henry Koenigs, age 92, of Stacyville, died Thursday July 10, (1997) at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Visitation Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meyer.

Henry was born August 20, 1904, at Meyer, Iowa, to Peter C. and Anna Marie (Klockner) Koenigs.

Henry married Barbara M. Hartogh on May 17, 1938, at the St. Peter Church in New Haven, Iowa. His wife preceded him in death on Aug. 10, 1992. Meyer was his home on his farm until he and his wife moved to Stacyville. He went to the Nursing Home in June 1995. Henry served on the School Board, Creamery Board, was a Parish Trustee, and involved with the Boy Scouts at Sacred Heart in Meyer. After moving to Stacyville he was a member of Visitation Parish, Catholic Order of Foresters and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by three sons; Phil and his wife, Sharon, of New Hope, Minn.; Ray and his wife, Kathleen, of Stacyville, and Tony and his wife, Patricia, of Meyer; one daughter, Suzann and her husband Dan Wageman of Stacyville; two brothers, Thomas Koenigs of Adams, Minn., and Philip Koenigs of Stacyville; one sister, Elizabeth Loecher of Stacyville; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one daughter Elizabeth Ann; five brothers, Aloysius, John, Joseph, Leo and Mathias Koenigs; and four sisters, Mary Fasbender, Theresa Schneider, Katie Wettstein and Anna Hartogh.

Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, is in charge of arrangements.
