OBITUARY: Dean Dodge, 1921-2005

Dean Dodge

Funeral services for Dean Dodge, age 84, of Osage, Iowa, were held Friday, Nov. 11, 2005 at First United Methodist Church in Osage with Rev. Dr. J. Samuel Subramanian officiating. Burial was on Saturday at the Osage Cemetery. Dean died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dean was born July 14, 1921, the son of Raymond and Eva (Dean) Dodge. His mother died when he was almost one year old. It was his mother's request that John and Julia Dodge would take Dean, which they did.

He married Beda B. Elliott on Feb. 26, 1944. They lived on a farm southeast of Osage and farmed until his retirement in 1982, when they moved to Osage. He was a member of the Osage United Methodist church. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to mourn his death are his wife Beda B. Dodge of Osage; daughter Ruth Dodge of Osage; son Rev. Robert Dodge and his wife Brenda of Britt; six grandchildren; Beda Dodge of Elkhart, Ind., Kama Dodge of Waterloo, Timothy and his wife Hillary Dodge of Bettendorf, Kristin Dodge of Britt and her fianc/ Ryan Volk of New Hampton, Amy Dodge of Britt and Jeremy Dodge of Britt; and many friends and other family members.

OSAGE — Dean Dodge, 84, of Osage, died Tuesday (Nov. 8, 2005) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Dean was born July 14, 1921, the son of Raymond and Eva (Dean) Dodge. His mother died when he was almost one year old. It was his mother’s request that John and Julia Dodge would take Dean, which they did.

He married Beda B. Elliott on Feb. 26, 1944. They lived on a farm southeast of Osage and farmed until his retirement in 1982, when they moved to Osage.

He was a member of the Osage United Methodist church. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and playing bridge with his friends. Dean also enjoyed his coffee at R & B in the morning and many times in the afternoon. He also faithfully followed his grandchildren in their sporting and music events and treasured those times.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Osage with the Rev. Dr. J. Samuel Subramanian officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Champion- Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and one hour before services Friday at the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
