A mass of the Resurrection for Richard Fox, 69, of rural Riceville was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 27, 1993 at St Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven, Iowa, with the Reverend John Moser officiating. Mr. Fox passed away Thursday, December 23, 1993, at home.

Richard Fox was born February 10, 1924 on the family farm east of New Haven - the son of Peter and Clara Miller Fox. He attended school at Douglas No. 3 rural school and later, Riceville High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on February 3, 1946 with basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama as an infantryman with special skills as a pioneer. He was decorated with the Victory Medal and was Honorably Discharged as a Corporal on August 7, 1947.

Richard was married to Mary E (Simmons) Palmer on October 18, 1991 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Riceville, Iowa. He was a life-long member of St Peter's Catholic Church at New Haven; was a member of the Riceville American Legion, Roy Gue Post 244; and operated the family farm until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, Riceville; three sisters, Marie McCabe, Torrance, California; Margaret Brownlee, Oroville, Washington; Helen Palm, Fairborn, Ohio, two brothers, Ralph and Leonard Fox, both of Riceville; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were conducted by the Riceville American Legion Roy Gue Post 244. Interment was in the St. Pater's Cemetery in New Haven with Champion Funeral Home of Osage in charge of arrangements.
