Guline "Isabelle" (Lundene) Jeglum, 1851-1930
Mrs. Isabelle Jeglum, a former resident of Mitchell County, died January 28th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Williams, in Long Beach, California. She was 79 years, 11 months and 1 day of age. Mrs. Jeglum had enjoyed good health until a week before her death, which was due to a heart ailment.
The body was brought back to Osage, and funeral services were conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre at the Rock Creek Lutheran church on February 23rd at 2 p.m. Interment was made beside her departed husband and children in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery.
Guline Ingeborg (Isabelle) Lundene was born in Springdale, Dane County, Wisconsin, on February 27, 1851 to Anders Knutsen Lundene and Olia Knutsdatter Thoen Lundene. The years of her childhood and youth were spent in the parental home. Immediately after her marriage to Ole T. Jeglum of Springdale, WI, they moved to Clay County, MN. In 1873 they came to Floyd County, Iowa where her mother and brothers had settled. There they bought a farm in Rudd Township.
After her husband’s death on March 31, 1889, she operated the farm with the help of her children for about two years. Leaving the farm, she bought a home in St. Ansgar, Iowa where she lived until 1910. She then moved to Adams, ND to be near her sons. Since then she has made her home with her children in different places.
In her wedlock eight children were born. Of these, the following survive: Albert and Oliver, both of Oakland, CA; Otis of Fairdale, ND and Clarence of Adams, ND; and Mrs. G.E. (Tilda) Williams of Long Beach, CA.
She also leaves one brother, Christopher Lundene of Mitchell, Iowa and nineteen grandchildren.
