Is Dead After Many
Month's SicknessJacob Jacobson died at his home in the First Ward July 21, after a long illness from cancer, and with his passing the community loses a citizen who was known and respected by all.
Mr. Jacobson was employed at the Gardner nurseries for twenty-four years, in the capacity of foreman during later years. During that time he came in contact with a great many of the county residents, who will remember him as a courteous, obliging and efficient man. He had a real appreciation of nursery culture.
Jacob C. Jacobson was born in North Schleswig, Germany, Feb. 21, 1872, and died at his home in Osage July 21, 1932, after many months of suffering from cancer.
His boyhood was spent in his native land, and he came to America at the age of 20. He enlisted in the United States army soon after coming here, serving a term of three years.
Following his discharge he went first to Forest City, moving later to Osage. He was married to Semina Peterson July 6, 1906, and six children were born to them. A son and daughter died in infancy, and Kenneth passed away in August of 1930.
He leaves besides his widow two daughters, Mrs. Wilbur Weed and Mrs. Oliver Cummings, and a son, Clair, also four grandchildren, all of Osage. There are also his brothers, Martin, of Webster City, and Adolph of Forest City; and three sisters: Mrs. Andrew Nissen, Forest City; Mrs. John Bremner, Hawthorn, Calif.; Mrs. Botilda Herman, Memphis Tenn.
Mr. Jacobson as a member of the Congregational church, and of the M.W.A. lodge.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Shelledy funeral home in charge of the Rev. Frank W. Miller, with interment in the Osage Cemetery.
