Local business houses closed their door today to pay their last respects to a fellow businessman, Martin O. Ellingson, funeral services for whom were held at the home at 1:30 o'clock and at the First Lutheran church at 2:00 o'clock.

Martin Olaf Ellingson, son of Sam and Carrie Ellingson, was born November 12, 1888, south of St. Ansgar. At an early age he was baptized by the Rev. Johann Olson, and on October 18, 1903, he was confirmed into the Lutheran faith by the Rev. M.E. Waldeland, in which he remained a faithful member until his death.

On May 9, 1917, he was married to Olivia Evenson. To this union three children were born, namely; Morris, Kathryn and Merle. On February 7, 1927, the mother of these children passed away. On September 24th he was married to Laura Kollman, and to this union five children were born; Delores, age 12, Marloe, age 9, Sheryl, age 7, and twin boys, Garry and Larry, age 3.

With the exception of about five years which were spent in Osage, Martin spent his entire life in the St. Ansgar community, conducting a garage business in St. Ansgar for a total of about fourteen years.

On January 2 he was taken seriously ill, and entered the Park Hospital at Mason City on Jan. 6, from which he was discharged on February 8. Late Monday night he suffered a heart attack which brought about his death at 12:15 a.m., February 11, 1941, at the age of 52 years, 2 months and 29 days. His father and mother had preceded him in death by twenty and eight years, respectively. In addition to the aforementioned children and devoted wife, one brother, Andrew and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Feldt and Mrs. C. Edward Miller, are left to mourn his pasing, plus a host of personal and business friends.

Martin was very public spirited, serving on the city council, and at the time of his death he was a member of the school board. His sterling honesty in his business dealings had served to establich him firmly as one of the most valuable members of this community. He was a man of few words but of deep feelings, devoted wholeheartedly to the happiness and wellbeing of his wife and children.
