Dr. Andrew Echburg buried here May 14, 1948
Funeral services for Dr. Andrew N. Echburg were held at the Schroeder and Houg Funeral Parlors Friday, May 14 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. O.A. Langehough in charge. Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery.
Dr. A.N. Echburg was born in the year 1861 in Norway. When a young man he came to America and settled in Wisconsin, from which place he went to Chicago and was graduated in Dentistry. He started his practice of dentistry in Northwood, Iowa, being the first dentist in Worth County and later practiced in Kensett, from which place he removed to St. Ansgar, and was the first dentist to practice in St. Ansgar. He continued in his profession in St. Ansgar until his advanced age.
It was here in St. Ansgar that he was united in marriage to Anna Christine Golberg. Dr. Echburg resided in St. Ansgar until the fall of 1942, shortly after the death of Mrs. Christine Echburg, from which time due to his old age he was cared for at the County Home, Osage, Iowa.
A few months ago his eyesight failed, and he became very feeble. He suffered a broken hip on Thursday, May 6th. The following day he was removed to the University hospital at Iowa City, at which place he died Tuesday evening, May 11, 1948.
He is survived by nieces and nephews residing at distant points.
