Funeral services for Victor Ellingson, 49, who died at his home in St. Ansgar March 5, 1951 after a prolonged illness, were held Thursday, March 8 at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. O.A. Langehough officiating.
Victor Leonard Ellingson, son of Gunder and Barbara Ellingson, was born June 1, 1901 on a farm near Carpenter. He was baptized July 21, 1901 by the Rev. Johan Olson and after due instruction was confirmed July 11, 1916 in the Deer Creek Lutheran church by Rev. M.E. Waldeland. Here he spent his boyhood days and attended the Carpenter school.
On September 2, 1925 he was united in marriage to the former Glenda Lamm. To this union one daughter, DeLone, was born.
Mr. Ellingson spent his entire life around the Carpenter and St. Ansgar vicinity engaged in the grain business. On June 5, 1950 he submitted to major surgery at Rochester, Minnesota, from which he never fully recovered. On September 2, 1950 Mr. and Mrs. Ellingson observed their silver wedding anniversary.
The late Victor Ellingson passed away at his home March 5, 1951 shortly after 6 a.m. at the age of 49 years, nine months and five days. His father and mother, one brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Elmer Jensen; four brothers, Benford and Leland of Carpenter, Walter of Northwood and Glen of Taopi, Minnesota; also two sisters, Mrs. Grace Aase of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Mrs. Lorry Hazelwood of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Burial was made in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Langehough officiating at the committal services.
Those from away who attended the funeral were his brothers and sisters, also Mrs. Stanley Wigness of State Center, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Flatness of Northwood, Ida Hansen of Northwood, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Anderson of Lake Mills, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Best of Mason City, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Olson of Carpenter, Mary Ann Ellingson of Carpenter, Mrs. Bernard Kelly of Osage, Mrs. Emily Johnson and Mrs. Al Nelson of Austin, Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Fosha of Freeport, Illinois, Mr. Lewis Hessenius of Baileyville, Illinois, Mrs. Mary Bennett of Osage and many other relatives and friends from Carpenter and Northwood.
