Wayne was born May 24, 1930, in Riceville, to Ross and Bessie (Clark) Swancutt. He graduated Riceville High School with the Class of 1948.

Wayne "Red" Swancutt grew up in Riceville, the youngest of six siblings. He married Beverly, the love of his life, on June 29, 1951. They lived in Riceville when their first son, David Wayne, was born. They moved to Northwood in 1954 where they had their second son, Steven Jay. He and Bev tragically lost an infant son, Neil, in 1956. They returned to Riceville where Wayne purchased and ran the Riceville Locker. Their fourth child, Melissa, was born in 1960 in Riceville.

Wayne was a master butcher and artist with meat processing and sausage making. After years of owning the locker, he became the proprietor of Murphy's Tavern, where everyone in Riceville learned to love this fiery and honorable man.
He was a member of the L.O.O.M. (Moose) Lodge 2238, Salmon River Athletic Club. His greatest love other than that of his darling wife, was fishing. His family will be forever grateful that God let him be with them for these many years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beverly Swancutt, of Newport, Ore.; his son, David (Kerri) Swancutt of Riceville, son, Steven (Susan) Swancutt of Manly, daughter, Melissa Swancutt, of Newport, Ore.; seven grandchildren; sister, Jean (Swancutt) Park of Junction City, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Neil; sister, Doris Beine; brother, Dale Swancutt; brother, William Swancutt, and sister, Hazel Pubaldi.
