RICEVILLE, IOWA - Marie E. Lubbert, age 88, of Riceville, died on Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at the Riceville Community Rest Home.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 24, at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville. Rev. Michael Parris officiated and burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. The Lindstrom Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Marie Erma Lubbert, was born on August 10, 1912, to Thomas and Barbara Huglin Evans in Winterset, Iowa. She was one of nine children born to this marriage. Marie attended local schools in Garner and moved with her family to the Riceville area in 1926. She continued her education in Riceville, graduating from the Riceville High School in 1931.

On February 18, 1935, she was united in marriage to Otis Lubbert at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charles City, Iowa. Otis and Marie farmed in the Riceville area until their retirement. Marie also worked for Oliver until retiring. Otis passed away on September 26, 1991. In August of 1992, Marie moved to the Riceville Rest Home.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Otis; three brothers, Frank, Ernest and Floyd; and two sisters, Ilo and Louise.

Those that survive her include her son, Thomas and wife, Erma Lubbert of Lakewood, Colorado; two grandchildren, Cynthia Lynn Lipscomb of Richmond, Texas and Timothy Edward Lubbert of Denver, Colorado; two brothers, Roy Evans of Coronado, California and Harold Evans of Phoenix, Arizona; and one sister, Mrs. Inez Clark of Cedar Falls.
