Inge Louise Christopherson Rustad was born October 21, 1824 at Hurahl, Prestehjele, Norway, Died at St. Ansgar, Iowa, September 25, 1910 at the age of 86 years, 11 months and four days.

She was baptized into the Lutheran church the same year of her birth and confirmed at that place.

On April 15, 1852 she was married to Ole Christopherson Rustad who died at the same place on November 16, 1908. To this union five daughters and three sons were born of which all are living but one. They are Mrs. Chris Olson of Pequot, Minn., Mrs. H. Rodtness of Faston, Minn., Mrs. K. Assorson, Mrs. G. Olson and Gunval all of St. Ansgar, Olaf of Palermo, N.D. and Chris of Cleveland, Ohio.

Ragna the youngest daughter died at the age of four years.

November 30, 1886 they together with their two youngest sons arrived at St. Ansgar, Iowa which has been their home ever since.

The deceased had been confined to her bed for six years, being crippled up with rheumatism which was the cause of her death.

On October 23, she became worse and lay in an exhausted, dazed condition. Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. she passed into the rest she has so long waited for.

The funeral was held at the U.N.L. Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, and was conducted by Rev. Urnes of Osage, Iowa, as Rev. Waldeland was not at home.

The remains were laid to rest in U.N.L. Cemetery.

Inge Lovise Gulbrandsdatter was born October 21, 1825 at Eidsfater, Hurdal, Akershus, Norway to Gulbrand Pedersen and Chatrine Nilsdatter.
Inga was baptized on November 5, 1825 at Hurdal, Akershus, Norway. Inge's birth and baptismal records can be found in the Norwegian Digital Archives on-line for Hurdal, Akershus, Norway 1815-1828, pg 173, entry # 42. Says she was born October 21, 1825 and baptized November 6, 1825. These dates conflict with her obituary but believe they are the correct dates. States her father was Gulbrand Pedersen Eidsfater and mother was Chatrine Olsdatter (should be Nilsdatter). Baptismal Sponsors: Maria Olsdatter Eidsfater; Anna Olsdatter; Hans Jorgensen; Christopher Larsen; Haugen Larsen. No reference to Tage or Taget probably because the parents were living at Eidsfather...they must have moved to Tajet later.

Inge married Ole Kristoffersen Rustad on April 15, 1852 at Rustad, Hurdal, Akershus, Norway.Marriage record found in the Norwegian Digital Archives for Hurdal in Hurdal, Akershus, Norway 1846-1859, pg 126, entry # 4. Ole and Inga are both listed as 26 years old.

The couple had eight children while living in Norway:
Mina Christine Olsdatter Rustad (January 6, 1853 Rustad, Lykkja, Hurdal, Akershus, Norway, married Ole Christian Olsen January 2, 1874 Norway, died October 21, 1932 Pequot Lakes, Crow Wing, MN);

Anne Katrine Olsdatter Rustad (born April 12, 1855 Lykkja, Rustad, Hurdal, Akershus, Norway, married Ole Larsen, then Hans Jacob Larsen Rotnes, died January 29, 1920 Fosston City, Columbia, Polk, Minnesota);

Karen Gustava Olsdatter Rustad (born December 4 1857 Lykkja, Hurdal, Akershus, Norway, married Olaus Olson, died April 18, 1945 Charles City, Floyd, Iowa);

Kristina Olsdatter Rustad (born November 2, 1860 Lykkja, Hurdal, Akershus, Norway, married Knud Knudsen Assorsen, died July 3, 1945 St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa);

Kristian Nikolai Olsen (or Rustad?) (born September 1, 1863 Lykkja, Hurdal, Akershus, Norway, died unknown in U.S.);

Gunval Leonard Olsen (born August 14, 1866 Rustad Lykkja, Hurdal, Akershus, Norway, married Karin Abrahamsdatter, died April 25, 1932 St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa);

Johan Olaf Olsen Rustad (born April 20, 1869 Rustad, Hurdal, Akershus, Norway, married Inga Caroline Andersen, died June 22, 1952 Minot, Ward, North Dakota) and

Ragna Lovise Olsdatter (born July 14, 1872 Rustad, Hurdal, Akershus, Norway, died April 9, 1876 Rustad, Norway.

Ole and Inge and their two youngest sons emigrated to St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa in November of 1886 and settled on farmland at Newburg township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

Found in the 1895 -1905 censuses living at Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa:
1895: Ole Christoferson, age 70, from Norway, Lutheran; His wife, Inga, age 70; two others: Olaf Christopherson, age 25, from Norway, Lutheran; and Christian Christopherson, age 20, from Norway, Lutheran.

1900: Ole Christoferson 73, Enya Christoferson 73; says she emigrated 1886. Had 8 children, 7 living:

1905: Ole Rustad, Ole Rustad, Inga Olsen Rustad. (cannot find her in the 1910 census).

Inge died September 25, 1910 at her daughter Gustava Olsen's home near St Ansgar, Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the Evergreen (First Lutheran) Cemetery, St Ansgar, IA.
