Last Friday, Mrs. J.H. Bjerke, sister of A.T. and Jeff Tollefson and Mrs. Hegland, died at her home at Monfort, Wisconsin. When he heard of her serious condition, A.T. Tollefson departed at once for Monfort, but she died some time before he got there. They brought the remains here for burial, arriving here Tuesday morning, and the funeral was held at the N.L. Church Tuesday afternoon.

Caroline T. Bjerke, daughter of Knud and Tharan Tollefson, was born at Rock Prairie, Wis., September 3, 1852. Fifty-five years ago this spring, when she was only one and one half years of age, the family moved to St. Ansgar, settling on the farm north of town. Here she grew to womanhood. In 1883, in company with her brother, A.K. Tollefson, she went to Groton, S.D., and took up a claim. In the year 1887 she was united in marriage to John H. Bjerke. They continued to reside in Dakota until 1901, when they went to Osseo, Wis., and engaged in keeping hotel. About six years ago they moved to Monfort where they have since resided, Mr. Bjerke being engaged in the hardware business.

Her health began to fail about two years ago. During the summer she came here for a visit, and with her brother went to Rochester where she took treatment. The following winter she was very sick again, but recovered during the summer. January 9th of this year she was taken with an attack of pneumonia. Tho she recovered from this, the old stomach trouble returned and she grew worse, dying March 26th. Of the five children born to Mr. and Mrs. Bjerke four Nellie, Clara, Harry and Alice, the oldest 20 and the youngest 13, remain with their father to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate wife and mother. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Waldeland, at the N.L. church March 30th and her remains were laid to rest in the N.L. Cemetery.
