Gilbert Bakkum, age 64, died here Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nels Boa, after a few days illness from pneumonia. He was born in Norway in 1874. He was married to Julia Peterson in 1901, then came to America in 1905, going to Clear Lake where they lived one year, after which they moved to St. Ansgar where they resided about sixteen years. In 1920 the family moved to Mitchell which has since been their home. He leaves beside his widow, seven children, Mrs. Nels Boa, John, Ben, Gerhart, Clarence, Mrs. Edwin Griga and Glenn all of Mitchell. A son, Albert, preceded him in death in 1925. The funeral was held at the Community church Saturday morning. Rev. T.P. Solem was in charge of the services.
