HALVOR DAHL RITES
Funeral services were held this afternoon at the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar for Halvor K. Dahl, with Rev. Olaf A. Langehough officiating.
Mr. Dahl, who had been a furniture dealer and mortician there the past 43 years, died Saturday morning at his home after being ill for several weeks.
He is survived by three children: Carl of St. Ansgar, Elmer of Chicago, and Mrs. William [Irene] Groth of St. Ansgar, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Halvor Knutson Dahl, long time resident of St. Ansgar, were held on Tuesday afternoon at 1:45 at his home and at the First Lutheran church. The Rev. Olaf A. Langehough officiated and burial was in the First Lutheran Cemetery.
Halvor Knutson Dahl, the son of Knut Dahlen and Anna Rusley Dahlen, was born on November 19, 1859 in Scandinavia, Wisconsin. He was baptized in the Christian faith by Rev. Mikkelson of Scandinavia.
At the age of twelve he came to Iowa in a covered wagon, settling near Fertile, Iowa. In 1877 he moved to St. Ansgar.
His first employment in the community was at the Colborn Hanson farm, north of town; he later worked for Theodore Tollefson. During the winter months he attended the Clyde School.
In 1879 he joined the First Lutheran church in which he was active at all times.
Mr. Dahl was married April 9, 1885 to Christine Nelson and lived for three years on a farm known as the Colbertson farm, south of St. Ansgar, then he moved to St. Ansgar where he was employed as a carpenter. During the harvest season he worked as a thresher.
In 1894 Mr. Dahl started in the furniture and undertaking business, retiring in 1934. Since retiring he had been active in his home, especially during the summer months when he worked in his garden.
The last three months his health began to fail and on Saturday morning, October 28th he passed away at the age of ninety years, eleven months and twenty two days.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1937 and one son, Iver, in 1948.
There are surviving, his daughter, Mrs. Irene Groth of St. Ansgar, Carl Dahl of St. Ansgar and Elmer Dahl of Chicago. There are also nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
