Agnes Marguerite Kofstad Klemesrud
Agnes Marguerite Kofstad was born near New Richland, Minnesota, on July 6, 1903, the younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kofstad. She was baptized and confirmed at the Le Sueur River Lutheran Church nearby.
During her childhood she attended rural schools in her community and was graduated from the New Richland High School with the class of 1922. She also attended Waldorf College at Forest City, and later Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls.
She was married on September 24, 1924 to Olaf Klemesrud of Osage. One son, James Reginald, was born to them.
Mr. and Mrs. Klemesrud made their home in Osage immediately after their marriage where he was employed in the Osage Hardware Store. In 1926 Mr. Klemesrud accepted a position in the Farmers State Bank at Rudd and they moved to that place, where she continued to live until the time of her death.
Mrs. Klemesrud was blessed with a cheerful, friendly disposition and bore her sufferings with Christian patience, courage and hope. She took a prominent part in the social life of her community and as long as her health permitted, was always willing to serve her church, the choir, and societies. She responded cheerfully whenever called upon and seemed to find great joy in serving the Lord. She possessed a beautiful alto voice and it might be interesting to note that she sang at the Ladies' Aid program in May, but a few weeks ago.
Mrs. Klemesrud enjoyed fairly good health until about a year ago when tuberculosis developed and caused her untimely death. She passed away
on the morning of June 27,1931. It seems so hard to realize that, "Whatever is, is best" when one so young is taken away and home ties
broken, but some day we shall understand.Besides her husband and son, her parents, one brother, Nathaniel, and one sister, Mrs. Guy Thompson, all of New Richland, MN survive.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. O.C. Myhre and interment made in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery.
