Judith K. Wolff, 63, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Care Center in Osage, Iowa.

She was born June 2, 1939, in Trenton, Missouri, the daughter of Fay and Bonnie (Welch) Bryant. She graduated from Trenton High School in 1957.

On April 27, 1958, she married Larry Wolff in St. Ansgar, Iowa. She served as secretary to the Superintendent of Schools and the Adams, Rizzi & Sween Law Firm in Austin. She was appointed to the St. Ansgar City Council in March of 1972, a history-making event because she was the first woman to serve on the Council

She enjoyed bowling, reading, and singing with her sisters. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of St. Ansgar, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband Larry; sons Larry, Jr. (Marjorie), St. Ansgar, Kelly (Lora), Albia, Iowa; daughter Ramona (Larry) Shunkwiler, Forest City, Iowa; eight grandchildren; sisters Mary (Jake) Batson, Galt, Mo., Lanah (Orien) Bagley, Waco, Tex.; sister-in-law Linda (Les) Brych, Stacyville, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son Shelby.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 13, 2002, at the funeral home and from 10 a.m., at the church, until the service.

Services: 2:00 PM Friday at the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, Iowa with Rev. Robert Porisch officiating.

Interment: St. Ansgar Cemetery, St. Ansgar, Iowa.

ST. ANSGAR - Judith K. Wolff, 63, died Tuesday (June 11, 2002) at Mitchell County Regional Health Care Center, Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Burial will take place at St. Ansgar Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School St., St. Ansgar, and will continue after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Judith was born June 2, 1939, in Trenton, Missouri, the daughter of Fay and Bonnie (Welch) Bryant. She grew up in Trenton and graduated from Trenton High School in 1957.

On April 27, 1958, she married Larry Wolff in St. Ansgar. They were the parents of four children. The family moved from Missouri to St. Ansgar in August of 1967, where she has continued to make her home.

Judy worked as a secretary for many years. She served as secretary to the superintendent of schools from 1974 through 1984 and then was employed by the Adams, Rizzi & Sween law firm in Austin from 1984 until she retired in September 2001 due to ill health.

Judy enjoyed a variety of activities, including bowling, reading and singing with her sisters. One accomplishment in which she took pride was being appointed to the St. Ansgar City Council in March of 1972 to complete the unexpired term of a council member who moved away. It was a history-making event in that she was the first woman to serve on the Council.

Judy was a member of First Lutheran Church of St. Ansgar.

She is survived by her husband, Larry; two sons, Larry Jr. and his wife, Marjorie, of St. Ansgar, and Kelly and his wife, Lora, of Albia; and a daughter, Ramona, and her husband, Larry Shunkwiler, of Forest City. Judy also is survived by eight grandchildren, Kevin Wolff, Jessica Wolff, Casey Wolff and Joshua Wolff, and Nathan To, Chelsea To, Dalton Shunkwiler and Megan Shunkwiler. She is survived by two sisters, Mary (Jake) Batson of Galt, Mo., and Lanah (Orien) Bagley of Waco, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Linda (Les) Brych of Stacyville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by a son, Shelby, who died in infancy.
