Funeral services for Grove Orlando Brenna, 78, of St. Ansgar, who died Monday, June 1, at a Rochester, Minn. hospital were held Wednesday, June 3 at First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Thomas Hughes officiating.
Mr. Brenna was born November 25, 1908 in Mitchell County to Mr. and Mrs. George Brenna. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar and attended school in St. Ansgar.
He married Helen on March 12, 1949 at the Brenna farm, four miles north of St. Ansgar, by the Rev. O.A. Langehough. He farmed his entire life as well as sold insurance in his later years. He and his wife moved to St. Ansgar in 1974 after retiring from farming. They remained active with traveling the country and abroad.
Mr. Brenna was instrumental in organizing and getting the Maple Manors erected and for eleven years was president of Maple Manor Apartments, Inc. He was a past member of the St. Ansgar Lions club. He has lived the past two and a half years at St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Jones of Austin, Minn; two nephews and friends.
Mr. Brenna was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1984 and also his parents.
Burial was in First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 3, 1987, at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, Iowa, for Orlando Brenna, 78, of St. Ansgar. He died on Monday, June 1, 1987 at a Rochester, Minnesota, hospital. Rev. T. Hughes will officiate, and burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Visitation will be before service time at the church.
Mr. Brenna was born on November 25, 1908 in Mitchell County, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. George Brenna. He married his wife, Helen, on March 12, 1949.
He farmed his entire life and sold insurance in his later years. The couple moved to St. Ansgar in 1974 and remained active, traveling this country and abroad.
Mr. Brenna was instrumental in organizing and getting the Maple Manors erected in St. Ansgar. For 11 years, he was president of the Maple Manor Apartment, Inc. He was a past member of the St. Ansgar Lions Club.
