Funeral services for Etta Borsheim, 95, of St. Ansgar, who died Monday, September 4 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, were held Wednesday, September 6 at the First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Thomas Hughes officiating.

Etta was born September 5, 1893 in Winona, Minn. to Henry and Anna (Schmidt) Hoge. She was a teacher and was the widow of Hans Borsheim.

Survivors include one daughter, Imogene Moore, Detroit, Mich.; two sons, Harold of Dubuque and Raymond of San Antonia, Tex. and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Wednesday at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona, Minn.

Etta Emelie Hoge Hylden Borsheim

Etta Emelie Hoge was born September 5, 1893 at Winona, Minnesota to Anna Marie Schmidt and Henry Ferdinand Hoge. She grew up in Winona and became a teacher.

Found in the 1895 - 1910 censuses living at Winona, Minnesota:
1895: Etta Hoge age 1.
1900: Henry Hoge 44, Anna Hoge 34, Volter Hoge 12, Lydia Hoge 10, Hedwig Hoge 8, Etta Hoge 6, Laura Hoge 2.
1910: Anna M Hoge 44, Walter W Hoge 22, Lydia L Hoge 20, Hedwig H Hoge 18, Etta E Hoge 16, Laura W Hoge 12, Rhoda F Hoge 7.

Found in various 1910 to 1927 City Directories at Winona, Minnesota working as a teacher.

Found in the 1920 census at Boston, Massachusetts: Laura Hoge 22, Etta Hoge 26, Hedwig Hoge 28, all siblings renting a room and working.

Etta married Ole E. Hylden on August 4, 1934 at Winona, Minnesota.

Found in the 1940 census at Grafton, Walsh, North Dakota, working at the Grafton State School for the Feeble Minded: Ole Hylden age 59, Etta 46, both officers at the school and Etta is teaching.

After Ole's accidental death, Etta returned to Winona, Minnesota. She next married Hans Borsheim (Ole's cousin) on August 12, 1959 at La Crosse, Wisconsin. The couple later lived at St. Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Etta Emelie Hoge Hylden Borsheim died September 4, 1989 at the Good Samaritan Home, St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona, Minnesota.
