Funeral services for Alfred O. Assorson, 83, who died at the Good Samaritan Center here November 13, 1967, were held November 16 at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. Don Comnick officiating.
Alfred Oliver Assorson, son of Knud and Christine Assorson, was born Septemer 16, 1884 at the family farm north of St. Ansgar. He received his early education at the Clyde rural school, and later attended the St. Ansgar Seminary.
A lifetime member of First Lutheran church, he was baptized and confirmed by the Rev. Johan Olsen. On August 29, 1908 he was united in marriage to Della Wambem, and to this union was born one son, Glenn Marlin, now of Lomita, Calif.
Until 1925 he was engaged in farming at the old family homestead. From 1929 to 1943 he served as custodian of the St. Ansgar schools, and from 1944 to 1946 he was employed by the Hanford Atomic Project at Richlane and Kennewick, Wash.
Mr. Assorson had enjoyed reasonably good health during his retirement years until November 8, 1966 when he entered the Mitchell County Memorial hospital at Osage for treatment. In January 1967, he became a resident of the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, and with the exception of a return visit to the hospital, spent his remaining months there. Death came November 13 after a life span of 83 years, one month and 27 days.
He is survived by his wife, Della; one son, Glenn Marlin; two grandsons, Dion Assorson of Los Angeles, Calif. and David Assorson of Newbury Park, Calif. and several nieces and nephews.
Interment was in First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Comnick in charge of committal services.
