Walter Vicor Aagesen was born in St. Ansgar, Iowa, on March 10, 1892, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Peter Aagesen. It was here that he attended school and grew to manhood. He was baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran Church of St. Ansgar of which he was a member at his death.
Mr. Aagesen enlisted in the Army in World War I where he held the rank of Sergeant, and after eighteen months of service he was honorably discharged.
In 1948, he moved to London, Minnesota, where up to his last illness, he operated a filling station. Mr. Aagesen was a faithful worker, a lover of flowers and beauty. The children, as well as others of the London community, found in him a real friend.
Mr. Aagesen had been in failing health for over a year. Five weeks ago he was taken to the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis where he passed away on Monday, May 18, 1959 at 2:30 P.M. He is survived by one brother; Arthur of St. Ansgar; two nieces; Mrs. Kenneth Kittleson of Austin, Mrs. Dr. Mallory of Washington, Iowa; three nephews; Dr. Walter Aagesen of Anderson, Indiana, Dr. Carl Aagesen of Dows, Iowa and Marcellus Aagesen of Hampton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Carl and John.
