Funeral services for Anton L. Ask, 93, who died in Austin Sunday, April 19, 1953, were held Wednesday, April 22, at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. O.A. Langehough officiating.
(The following portion of the obituary was written by the late Mr. Ask:)
Anton Ask was born the 20th of June, 1860, at Highland Prairie, Fillmore county, Minnesota. His parents were Lars and Toline Ask. He was baptized by Pastor Jensen in what is now the Bratsburg church. Pastor Jensen held services at that time in an oak grove as there was no church building. He was confirmed in St. Ansgar in 1875 by Pastor Johan Olsen.
In 1868, he came with his parents to Mitchell county and they settled on a wild piece of land west of Mitchell, Iowa, where Lawrence Ask is now living. In 1889, he was married to Maria Dammen, who passed away in 1932. Four children were born to them, Lawrence on the home farm, and Stella (Mrs. John Myhre of Austin, Minn.) Two children died in infancy.
In 1904, Mr. Ask and the children went to Silverton, Oregon and lived there for one year. In the year 1916, he moved to St. Ansgar and since 1945 he had lived with his children.
He leaves to mourn his death, two children, two grandchildren, Duane Ask and Mrs. Faye Myhre Gessing; also several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Langehough in charge of the committal services.
