Olava L. Ask was born the 25th of September, 1853, at Rock Prairie, Wis. Her parents were Mons and Carrie Blakstvedt. She died in Rock township, Mitchell County, Iowa, January 5, 1920.
The 28th of May, 1873, she was united in marriage to Ole L. Ask at Highland Prairie, Minn. Nine children were born to these worthy people, the first born died in youth. The three sons, Alfred, Bernhard and Rudolph, all settled in Mitchell county, as did also the four of the daughters; Mrs. Edward Nelson, Mrs. Carl Haugen, Mrs. Iver Rossum and Miss Lottie Ask, who has taken care of the mother during the long siege of sickness. The fifth daughter, Mrs. Blakstvedt, resides in Fillmore county, Minn.
All the children with their families were present at the funeral as were her brother, Mr. Blakstvedt, and a cousin of Fillmore county, Minn. The deceased is also survived by fifteen grandchildren. Mrs. Ole L. Ask was held in high esteem by every one who knew her and she was a devoted good wife and a loving mother. A short devotion was given at the Ask home and the funeral sermon preached at the Lutheran church of St. Ansgar by her pastor, Rev. J. A. Urnes. She was laid to rest in the First Lutheran cemetery Thursday, January 8, 1920.
