A memorial prayer service for Barry Klapperich, age 49, of Whitefish, Montana, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 30, 2002 at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Meyer, Iowa. Fellowship and lunch to follow in the church basement.

Barry passed away Saturday, November 2, 2002. He was born July 23, 1953 in Osage, Iowa, to Lawrence and Esther Klapperich.

His survivors include his wife Beverly Fisher Klapperich, and daughter Tina, of Whitefish, Montana.

OBITUARY: Barry Klapperich, 1953-2002

Barry Klapperich, 49, of Whitefish, MT, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002 from complications of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Barry was born July 23, 1953 at Osage, to Lawrence and Esther Klapperich. He grew up on the family farm near Stacyville. He was raised there with his brothers Owen and Reid and sisters Rose and Dorette. He attended school in Meyer and St. Ansgar.

On Dec. 15, 1979 he married Beverly Fisher in Riceville. They moved to Montana in 1981 and made their home in Whitefish. They have one daughter, Tina.

Barry enjoyed many things especially spending time with his daughter Tina. Fishing, camping, hiking, horseback riding, spending time with friends and family, playing cards and golfing, were among his joys. Through the years, Barry was a guide on horseback tours in Glacier National Park, he did ranch work, trained horses, and shod horses. He also guided hunting and fishing trips into the Bob Marshall and Great Bear Wilderness areas. He and his wife Bev owned and operated Spring Prairie Garden in Whitefish.

Barry was preceded in death by their daughter Julie Ellen Klapperich, eight months old and an infant sister, Judy.

Barry is survived by his wife Bev and daughter Tina of Whitefish; his parents Lawrence and Esther Klapperich of Stacyville, brother Owen Klapperich (Linda) of Kalispell, Montana, sister Rose Schubert (Dave) of Austin, Minnesota, brother Reid Klapperich (Barb) of Stacyville, sister Dorette Fravel (Leonard) of Cresco, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private viewing was held last week and cremation has taken place. A memorial service, officiated by Tim Bartholomew was held Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002 at Stillwater Free Lutheran Church, 1401 Church Drive in Kalispell, Montana. Another service will be held later this month in Meyer, Iowa.

Barry's spirit touched many people. He shared his love of the outdoors with family and friends. He was quick to lend a helping hand, and had a wonderful spirit towards many people.
