MRS. CHARLES BACON
Sarah Henrietta Davis was born in Vienna, New York on June 5, 1949. She came to Mitchell County, Iowa with her parents when 16 years of age and for some years taught in the country schools.
In 1870 she was united in marriage with Charles H. Bacon. Mr. Bacon passed away in 1904.
Eighteen years ago Mrs. Bacon went to Chicago to make her home with her daughter and family. She passed to her eternal home March 12, 1929.
Her education was obtained in the public schools of her home town and also in a private school for girls. She was keenly interested in the progress made during her long life of 50 years and she could recall many of the starring events of Civil war days and the experiences of the early pioneers in Iowa. For many years Mrs. Bacon was a devoted member of the Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. D. I. Coon of Kearney, Nebraska, and Mrs. Judson P. Lee of Chicago; also her nephew, Chester K. Titus of Chicago, whom she took into her home when a babe and cared for as her own son. A sister, Miss Deborah H. Davis, of Boise, Idaho, and a brother, Willis H. Davis, of Osage, Iowa, and four grandsons also survive her.
