Mrs. Clara Nelson Dies
At Aase Haugen Home
At Age Of 80

Funeral services were held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran church in Osage Friday for Mrs. Clara Nelson, 80, who died at the Aase Haugen home in Decorah, where she had been a resident since October 1953. She died there last Wednesday.

The Rev. Luther Berven was in charge of the services here and burial was in the cemetery at Rock Creek.

Clara Emilia Knudson was born in Mitchell county, June 22, 1878, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Knut Knudson. She spent her early life on the home farm near Meroa, and was baptized and confirmed at Rock Creek Lutheran church.

She was married May 25, 1898 to Albert O. Nelson, and they farmed in Floyd county until they moved to Osage in 1920. After Mr. Nelson’s death in 1941, she made her home with her cousin, Lottie Knudson in Osage.

Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Mrs. Ole Hylden, and one grandson.

Surviving are her son, Ervin of Waterloo, one daughter, Mrs. Virgil McGhan, Sr., of near Osage, one sister, Mrs. Robert Lofgren of Williston, N.D., five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
