Ella Shoger Klemesrud

Ella Augustine Shoger, daughter of Hans and Ellen Knutson Shoger, was born August 15, 1877 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She was united in marriage on September 21, 1898 to Syver Klemesrud. They lived on a farm in Cedar Township until 1918. In 1918 they moved to the Klemesrud homestead in Cedar where their son, Kinley, now lives. In 1926 they moved to Osage and in 1929 they moved back to the home farm. Mr. Klemesrud died in 1943.

In 1946 Mrs. Klemesrud went to Nora Springs to live with her stepfather, Ole Dahley. In the winter of 1947 and spring of 1948, Mrs. Klemesrud lived in California. Since then she made her home with her sons, Kinley and Ellsworth. In July 1948, she went to Rochester where it was found she suffered a malignant disease. She spent some time in the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital and lived the last few weeks of her life with her son, Ellsworth, in Osage.

Mrs. Klemesrud died Wednesday, March 30, 1949 at the home of her son.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 2, 1949 at the Champion Funeral Home and at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. The Rev. S.O. Sorlien officiated and burial was made in the Rock Creek cemetery.

Mrs. Klemesrud was a very active member of the Rock Creek church. She was president of the Ladies' Aid and a teacher in the Sunday School for many years.

Surviving are three sons, Kinley of rural Nora Springs, Ellsworth of Osage, and Stanley, a student at St. Olaf College at Northfield, MN. Three grandchildren, Marjorie, Maryalys, and Laurinda also survive. Others include her stepfather, Ole Dahley of Nora Springs; a half sister, Mrs. Della Norby of Nora Springs; two half brothers, Ira Dahley of Los Angeles, and Elmer Dahley of rural Nora Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Clifford in infancy; a sister, three brothers, and a half sister.
