ST. ANSGAR, IOWA -- Services for Emma Hansen, 91, who died Sunday at Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar, will be held on Friday at United Methodist Church in St. Ansgar. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar city cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Turney of St. Ansgar.

Schroeder Funeral Home in St. Ansgar is in charge of arrangements.

Emma (Sippel) Hansen [1888-1979]

Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Hansen, 91, of St. Ansgar, who died at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center December 30, were held Janaury 4 at the St. Ansgar United United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Wittern officiating.

Emma (Sippel) Hansen was born on a farm north of Albert Lea, Minn. September 21, 1888, the youngest of seven children of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Sippel. She attended school near Manchester, Minn. and later worked as a waitress in her brother's restaurant.

October 19, 1908 she married Alfred J. Hansen at the Methodist parsonage in Albert Lea, Minnesota. They made their home in Waterloo for five years, and in 1913 moved to a farm south of St. Ansgar where they farmed for 42 years. In 1955 they retired and moved to St. Ansgar. Two daughters were born to them.

After Mr. Hansen's death in 1967, Mrs. Hansen went to live with her daughter, Dorothy in Longview, Washington, until May of 1971 when she returned to St. Ansgar and became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center.

Mrs. Hansen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, her husband and her daughter, Ethel.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Kenneth
(Dorothy) Turney of St. Ansgar and her son-in-law, Kenneth Turney; two step grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren and seven step great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. Wittern in charge of committal services.
