Funeral Services Held Today
for William Frederick Schroeder,
Age 82

Funeral services were held this afternoon at Immanuel Lutheran Church for William F. Schroeder. The Reverend Paul Brammer officiated at the obsequies. Interment was in the church cemetery.

William Frederick Schroeder was born December 27, 1861 at Gross Schiatikow, Pomerania, in Germany. Here he was also baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.

At the age of fourteen years he came to this country in 1975. The family first settled at Columbus, Wisconsin but soon moved to Spring Valley, Minnesota and then to Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

The deceased entered matrimony with Miss Antonia Bartz October 10, 1889, the ceremony being performed at St. John’s at Rock Creek. They founded a home of their own on a farm in Worth County about four miles south of Grafton. Four years later they found a new home in Rock Township from where four years later they moved to their own farm in Newburg Township. In 1903 the purchased another place one mile north of St. Ansgar where they lived till they retired and came to live in their present home in town.

In 1939 they enjoyed the rare privilege of celebrating their golden wedding anniversary in the circle of their relatives and friends.

Mr. Schroeder was blessed with a rugged constitution and enjoyed good health till the latter years of his life when the ravages of old age began to tell on him.

The deceased suffered a stroke a week ago yesterday and his end came peacefully last Saturday evening at seven o’clock.

He is survived by his widow, all his children: Oscar of St. Ansgar, Alvin of Little Cedar; Mrs. Mabel Julson of St. Paul, Minnesota, Mrs. Elnora Mielke of Wheaton, Minnesota; Mrs. Laura Feldt of St. Ansgar; thirteen grandchildren; and one brother. He attained the age of eighty-two years and twenty-five days.
