Robert Fred Kleinwort, the youngest child and only son of Sherwin and Irma (Lubiens) Kleinwort, was born on December 23, 1920, in Carpenter, Iowa.

Bob's family moved to St. Ansgar from a farm near Carpenter when he was young. He graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1938, attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa, and served three years in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II.

In 1947 Bob returned to St. Ansgar to work with his father at St. Ansgar Mills, from which he retired in January 1986.

On September 6, 1947 he married Margaret Mundt of Toeterville, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith on December 7, 1947 at First Lutheran Church when Rev. Olaf A. Langehough served the congregation.

Bob personified the Marine Corps motto, "Semper Fidelis;" he was forever faithful to his family and his profession. Bob was a loving and devoted family man. He truly enjoyed his life's work at St. Ansgar Mills. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, fishing with his friends, and visiting with his children and grandchildren.

Bob died of pneumonia on November 10, 1993 at North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa, at the age of 72 years. His funeral was held on November 13, 1993 at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, Iowa, with Rev. Stephen Engelstad officiating. Fran Zosulis was organist. Interment was in the St. Ansgar City Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Robert is survived by his wife, Margaret and the families of their four chidlren: Edward and Joanne, Kayla Sheri, Katherine, Ellie and Charles Kleinwort of St. Ansgar; Joan and Marcus, Darin, Janelle and David Haack of Ankeny, Iowa; James and Mary, Lisa and Julie Kleinwort of St. Ansgar; and Steven and Amy Kleinwort of St. Ansgar.

He is also survived by his three sisters: Irma Tesch of St. Ansgar; Gladys K. Bowles of Athens, Georgia; and Shirley Fossey of St. Ansgar.
