ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Marjorie Coon, 87, of St. Ansgar, died on Sunday, February 23, 1997, at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ted Stowers and the Rev. Rose Marie Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mitchell. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home.

Marjorie Coon was born June 30, 1909, in Fostoria.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann Jennings, Carson City, Nev.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Marjorie Ann Coon, 87, of St. Ansgar, who died at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center February 23, 1997, were held Wednesday, February 26 at St. Ansgar United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ted Stowers and Reverend Rose Marie Lewis officiating.

Marjorie Ann Coon was born June 30, 1909 on a farm in Fostoria. Her parents were Alva and Francis Clifton. She lived on a farm near Spencer until she was four years old. She moved to a farm near Nora Springs where she attended school. Upon graduation, she attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids. She taught school three years in Mitchell where she met and married Lester Jay Coon September 6, 1930.

They farmed at Mitchell and Cresco. Later they moved to St. Ansgar where her husband worked for Interstate Power Co. She was a housewife.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Jennings of Carson City, Nevada; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters.

Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mitchell.
