Kurt S. Sprau
OSAGE, IOWA — Kurt S. Sprau, 41, of Osage, died Saturday (Aug. 27, 2005) at his home in Osage of natural causes, pending the medical examiner’s investigation.
Kurt was born on November 13, 1963, in Mason City, the son of Sterling and Norma (Oakland) Sprau. Kurt graduated from Meservey-Thornton High School in 1982, and graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake in 1986. He passed his C.P.A. examination on his initial sitting in 1986.
Kurt lived in Pella until 1992, when he moved to Osage. He was currently employed as chief financial officer at Curries/Graham in Mason City. Kurt was a member of the Iowa Society of CPAs.
He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Osage.
Kurt was a loving father who enjoyed coaching and attending his children’s sporting events. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan. Kurt enjoyed playing poker and returning to help on the family farm.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Osage with the Rev. Dr. J. Samuel Subramanian officiating. Inurnment will be at the Meservey Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Kurt is survived by two daughters, Amanda Sprau, a student at Iowa State University in Ames, and Casey Sprau, at home; a son, Sterling Sprau, at home; his mother, Norma Sprau of Mason City; a sister, Pam (Bob) Carlson of Meservey; a brother, Scott (Jenee) Sprau of Meservey; six nieces and nephews, and a special relative, Zoe Myers of Meservey.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sterling Sprau, in 1990.
