ST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Rueben [Clarence] Kroneman [a.k.a. Kronemann], age 84, of St. Ansgar, died on Sunday (Aug. 28, 2005) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday [Aug. 31, 2005] at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rock Township, Osage, with the Rev. Wayne Ellingson and AiM Intern Irmgard Ellingson officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery in Rock Township, Mitchell county, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar.

Rueben was born on July 9, 1921, on the family home place east of Grafton, to Emil and Mary (Neuman) Kroneman. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Rock Township, where he was a lifelong member. Rueben attended rural country school.

Rueben was united in marriage to Betty June Lundene on June 26, 1949, at Deer Creek Lutheran Church in Carpenter. They were married for 56 years, and blessed with six children, eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Rueben served on various organizations at the church. He was also a 4-H leader and served on the Mitchell County Co-op Board for 18 years. Rueben’s vocation of farming and feeding cattle were also his hobby and passion. Upon semi-retirement in 1997, Rueben and Betty moved to their present home in St. Ansgar where Rueben still participated in farming as his health permitted.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Laura Wilde, Grace Tabbert and Myrtle Miller; brothers, Alvin Kroneman and George Kroneman.

Rueben is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Darwin (Vicky) Kroneman of Osage, Dennis Kroneman of Osage, James (Vicki) Kroneman of Osage, Marjean (Jeff) Gordon of St. Ansgar, Mark (Kristi) Kroneman of Clear Lake, and Kathleen (Lance) Chandler of Belmond; grandchildren, Joshua Kroneman, Keith (Bonnie) Kroneman, Tim (MariAnn) Kroneman, Melinda (David) Penfold, Lori (Doug) Schonhorst, Lisa (Brian) Kruse, Katie Gordon, Jenni Kroneman, Jalissa Kroneman, Jordan Chandler and Stephanie Chandler; and great-grandchildren, Nolan Schonhorst and Brenna Kruse; two brothers, two brothers, Lloyd (Wilma) Kroneman, of Grafton, and Glen (Delores) Kroneman of Carpenter; one sister, Clara Ones of Osage; one sister-in-law, Twila Kroneman, of Osage; and many nieces and nephews.
