MASON CITY, IOWA — June H. Horstman, 83, of 523 S. Mississippi Ave., died Sunday (May 30, 2004) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Interment will be in Osage Cemetery in Osage.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.

June was born May 15, 1921, in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Alvin and Olava M. (Lindley) Koch. She attended school in Osage, then moved to Mason City in 1940.

June married Edward Horstman Feb. 14, 1944, in Rockwell. She farmed with her husband in Rockwell, New Haven and Nora Springs before returning to Mason City in 1989.

June was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Women’s Club, Card Club, RSVP, volunteered at the Discovery Shop, enjoyed sewing and traveling, and was an avid gardener. June and husband Edward wintered in Arizona for many years and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

June is survived by her two children, Loni Siefken and husband, Jerry, of Rudd, and Larry Horstman and wife Janet of Nora Springs; five grandchildren, Lane Siefken and wife, Denise; April Horstman Reser and husband, Dusty; Lance Siefken and wife, Dawn; Tamara H. Murray and husband, Jerry, and Kevin J. Horstman, and six great-grandchildren, Zachary, Cody, Mackenzie, Megan, Kari and Wyatt.

June’s parents, husband, Edward, and brother, Dean, preceded her in death.
