ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Harold William "Babe" Hulshizer, 85, of Oregon, Illinois, died on Friday, December 5, 2003, in Oregon, Illinois as a result of a recent stroke.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School St., St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Richard Bonney officiating. Burial will take place at the Woodbury Cemetery in Lyle, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home.
Harold was born on May 18, 1918, in Thornton to Fred and Rosa Hulshizer. He married Dorothy L. Greiner in 1940. To this union, two children were born, Fred and Carolyn. He served his country in the United States Army from March 1943 to March 1946. He was in the military police, serving in the South Pacific campaign. He resided his adult life in Wisconsin and worked 40 years in the auto body business.
Survivors include his children, Fred, of Madison, Wisconsin, and Carolyn L. Welsh and her husband, Donald, of Chana, Illinois; one brother, Dale Hulshizer and his wife, Lois, of St. Charles, Minnesota; four grand-children, four great-grandsons, and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy in 2002; a grandson, Craig Welsh; and six brothers and one sister.
