NORTHWOOD, IOWA — Mickey Elwin Arnold, 76, of rural St. Ansgar, died Wednesday (July 9, 2003) at 98 8th St. N. in Northwood.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the Northwood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Jensen officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in Northwood.
Mickey was born on May 20, 1927, in Ellston, Iowa, to Leroy and Mary Ann (Clark) Arnold. He graduated from Grand River High School in 1944 and attended one year at American Institute of Business in Des Moines.
Mickey joined the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946. He moved to Nevada, Iowa, where he farmed.
Mickey married Geraldine Lura on Aug. 27, 1950, in Nevada. They moved to the Northwood area in 1951, farming east of Northwood.
Mickey was an avid farmer, snowmobiler, boater and golfer. He enjoyed playing pool while wintering in Texas.
He was a member of the Northwood United Methodist Church, was past president of the Farm Bureau, and a member of the Odd Fellows and the Northwood Country Club.
Mickey enjoyed his grandchildren, going to their events and being supportive of their activities.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Linda.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine, of Northwood; two sons, Steve (Kathy) Arnold, of Northwood, and Brian (Tami) Arnold, of Garner; two daughters, LeaAnn Hauge of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sue (Jim) Hale of Pleasant Hill; one son-in-law, Larry Hauge, of Northwood; nine grandchildren, Melissa, Chris and Brandon Hauge, Ryan and Derek Hale, Madison and Sam Arnold, Adrian and Luren Arnold; two great-grandchildren, Cydney Hauge and Harper Hyde; two sisters, Cenith Carlson of Minneapolis, Minn., and Berva Mills of Boone.
